FAQ

Short answers to the questions that come up most.

General

Which platforms is the game on?

Steam for Windows and macOS, Steam Deck Verified, full controller support. A PS5 edition and a mobile version have been announced without dates. A separate Roblox adaptation by another studio exists and is not covered by this wiki.

Can we play with two or four people?

No. The game is built around exactly three players, one per missing sense, each with their own copy. There is no solo, duo or local co-op mode.

Do we need Discord or another voice chat?

Use the in-game voice chat. It is what enforces the roles: the deaf player hears nothing, the mute player's microphone is off. The in-game tutorial asks teams not to use an external voice chat, and doing so would remove the whole point of the game.

Is there a PDF of the manual?

No. The manual exists only in-game and only the mute player can open it, and parts of it (at least the Color Slider page) are randomised per session, so a download would not even help. Sites offering a PDF are not official. This wiki's module pages show the tables as seen in players' manual screenshots and mark them as drafts until the wiki team has verified them.

Do I need to learn Braille to play blind?

No. Hover over a dot cluster and the game prints the number. The clusters are stylised, so a real Braille chart would mislead you.

Which languages does the game support?

Fifteen, including the manual. German and English are both among them, which is why this wiki is bilingual.

What changed in the MAYDAY update?

The first major content update, released on 9 October 2026. The game now reads version 1.1.0. New: an aircraft cabin as a second location with its own hazards, a wardrobe with hats and role-marker variants, and five new modules, Buttons, Hot Buttons, Rotation, Lock and the Chaos element Balance. No patch notes were published; existing module rules have not changed as far as anyone has reported. Details are in the round guide.

I found a mistake on this wiki. Where do I report it?

Every page has an "Edit this page on GitHub" link at the bottom that opens the source file in GitHub's editor; a pull request from there is the fastest way. If you would rather describe the problem, open an issue at github.com/elikopter21/bombanana-wiki/issues and say which game version you were playing.

Troubleshooting

Voice chat does not work. What do I check?

In this order: the input device in your operating system, the microphone permission (Windows: Privacy & security → Microphone; macOS: Privacy & Security → Microphone), Steam's voice settings, then recreate the lobby. Test the mic in another app to rule out hardware. Remember the rules before you debug: the deaf player hears nobody and the mute player's mic is off by design, so only the blind and deaf players need a working microphone. Crackling and players unable to hear or speak were fixed in 1.0.1, with more voice tweaks in 1.0.2; make sure everyone runs the same build.

Voice is delayed.

There is no official fix since launch (a delay bug was fixed in the demo). What helps in practice: a wired connection for the host, pausing uploads and cloud sync, and swapping who hosts. A VPN usually makes it worse.

The game shows "Fatal Error: IL2CPP" at launch.

The developer's pinned fix on Windows: Settings → Privacy & security → Windows Security → App & browser control → Smart App Control → Off, then restart. The developer notes this lowers your protection, so only do it for a copy bought on Steam and turn it back on if it did not help.

A Unity window flashes and the game closes.

One player fixed this by updating Windows 10 to 22H2; older builds are not supported by the engine. If that is not it, the developer asks you to contact support on the official Discord.

On macOS the blind player's mouse snaps back or jumps.

Reported by many players since early September with trackpad and mouse alike, no fix or developer reply yet. Workaround until then: give the blind role to a Windows player in the group.

My friends cannot join my lobby.

Everyone needs their own copy and the same build after a patch; a lobby needs exactly three. Share the room code instead of a Steam overlay invite (clicking the code copies it). The developer's checklist: meet the system requirements, update or roll back graphics drivers, verify the game files in Steam, allow the game through the firewall, disable VPNs. If nobody can connect to anyone, swap the host.

How do I find players without friends who own the game?

Use the server browser (filter by name, code or country to find a shared language), the matchmaking button added in 1.0.2, or the LFG channel on the official Discord. Public lobbies fill fast at busy times. To keep good strangers, add them from Steam's "recently played with" list. Do not add an external voice chat: it removes the asymmetry the game is built on.

Does it run on Steam Deck or Linux?

Valve lists the game as Steam Deck Verified, and ProtonDB reports are Gold trending Platinum, although the store page only names Windows and macOS. Full controller support, including DualShock 4, DualSense and Xbox controllers; the missing controller UI was fixed in 1.0.2.

Is there a colour-blind mode?

Two modes exist; their names are not published. A known bug at launch: switching the language to Spanish turned colour-blind mode on, and the on/off label could be reversed. For a colour-blind deaf player, one group had them turn colours into numbers ("show one for white, two for yellow…") so the mute player can answer with fingers.

Our heads got huge and the deaf player cannot see the bomb.

Slapping each other right after the start inflates heads until they block the view. The developer is aware of it. Save the slapping for after the defusal.

On Monkey-Says my teammate sees me pointing somewhere else.

Reported after the MAYDAY update (10 October 2026): the deaf player saw the blind player point right while the blind player pointed down. No developer reply yet. Until it is fixed, confirm positions in words ("bottom, yes?") before pressing instead of trusting the pointing animation.
